According to Times of India, majority of Indians have a 10 by 10 foot room in which they have have to sleep, live, eat and toilet needs. 44% of rural areas have electricity. Although cites have better facilities than villagers, except for major metros, no city has 24 hour access to water. About 400 million people in India don't have access to a proper toilet and the problem is even worse in the slums across Indian cities. The government are running programs(some funded by World Bank) to improve living conditions in India. Bharar Nirman is helping clean water in India, Jawaharal Nehru Urban Renewal Mission is building public toilets and more sewage systems.
